In the Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) there is "gcp" (install related "recommended" packages) & "ultracopier", etc. Is this very large file on a Linux partition or a mounted MS Windows partition? Is the file in a Virtualbox virtual machine? Have you installed all the Mint Updates and anything recommended in the "Driver Manager" or "Drivers" option?
If you run " inxi -Fxzd", "lsusb", and "lsblk" with that USB flash drive inserted from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. It would help to know more about your system setup. I just read your post and the good replies to it.
